Payments & Returns


We do not store credit card details nor do we share customer details with any 3rd parties.


Payment Methods

Midlands Fancy Dress reserves the right to change any of our prices at any time without prior warning. Should the price of a purchased item subsequently decrease, we are under no obligation to refund the difference or to sell an item at a previous lower price.

We accept payments by credit or debit card and through Paypal. All debit and credit card transactions are handled by Paypal secure checkout. It is not necessary to have an existing Paypal account or to register with Paypal in order to use the checkout for credit or debit card transactions. Paypal ‘e-cheque’ payments must have cleared before items are dispatched. Midlands Fancy Dress accepts no responsibility for orders delayed by e-cheques.

Please note Midlands Fancy Dress do not record or retain any credit card details.

In certain circumstances we will accept cheque or postal order payments, by sending out a Pro-forma invoice. In such cases orders will not be dispatched until cheques have cleared. All cheques and postal orders should be made payable to Midlands Fancy Dress. Please call our office for more details.

No order will ever be dispatched until we have received full payment.

Collections from our shop can be paid for by cash or credit/debit card on collection, or via our website or over the phone before collection.

Meeting Time Requirements

We understand that the majority of orders placed with us will be required for a specific date. If this is the case we would encourage customers to add the date their order is needed by to the Notes section of their payment. Please note Midlands Fancy Dress is not bound to deliver by the provided date.

If the item you have ordered is in stock it will be posted the same day if bought before 12 noon, in stock orders made after this time will be posted the next day. If all or part of your order is out of stock your order will usually be dispatched within 3-4 working days. If for any reason all or part of your order is unavailable you will be contacted within 32 hours of placing the order & offered alternative items or a full or partial refund. Alternatives will never be sent without contacting you first. Please note these estimates do not include Sundays or Bank Holidays when the post office is closed.

Cancelling your Order – Before Shipping

If you wish to cancel all or part of your order before it has been shipped, please contact us as quickly as possible by phone or email (see ‘Contact Us' page). Any money will be refunded. There is no charge for cancelling an order before it has been shipped.

Cancelling your Order – After Shipping

Customers can cancel their order within 14 days of receiving it. You will be invited to return your order in an unopened and unused condition for a refund. Please see our Returns Policy for more details.

Returns Policy – Cancelling your order

All goods purchased from Midlands Fancy Dress can be returned if we are informed within 14 days of receipt of delivery. Please ensure returns reach us within 21 days.

Before returning an item to us please contact us, by phone (01527 592895) or email (returns@midlandsfancydress.co.uk), stating your reason for wanting to return the item or items, whether the item has been used and whether you require a refund or exchange. To ensure your enquiry is dealt with quickly, please have your Invoice number available when contacting us. Please include the invoice which arrived with your order or a print out of either your Order confirmation or Dispatch confirmation email with the returned items; failure to do so may result in a delay in processing your return. Failure to contact us before returning all or part of an order may result in a delay processing your order.

Should all or part of an order be returned without contacting us first & the parcel is received by us outside of the 14 day returns period only a partial refund will be offered (please see below).

Please note:

  • All orders are checked before dispatch to ensure that all ordered items are included and that each item is complete (i.e. all accessories included with a costume are present).
  • All returned items will be inspected.
  • Should a partial return be made on an order which previously totalled over £50 and received a 10% discount, the discount will only stand if the order total is still above £50 after the value of the returned items is subtracted.
  • The customer has a duty to retain possession of and take good care of items until they are returned to us. All returns must be in their original shipped condition and original packaging. Items should not be used or damaged and should be in a suitable condition for resale. All Original Packaging should accompany the returned item.
  • Unfortunately we cannot accept any returns, for exchange or refund, on any item on which sealed packaging (or a ‘blister pack’) has been opened. Typically costumes do not come in sealed packaging & can therefore be tried on.
  • We are not a manufacturer and therefore require items are returned whole, including all accessories and packaging, in the same condition you would have received them in & as you would expect to receive them. If the product or packaging is damaged or missing we cannot issue a refund.
  • The customer and their selected carrier are responsible for your returned items until they reach us. We recommend that a Proof of Postage is obtained when returning items or that the Royal Mail’s ‘Recorded Delivery’ service is used. The Cost and risk of returning items is at the customer’s expense and Midlands Fancy Dress accept no responsibility for returned items which do not reach us.
  • We aim to issue any refunds within two working days of receiving returned items & guarantee that any refunds granted will be received within 14 days. Unfortunately we can take no responsibility for interest or charges incurred by refunds being made outside of your credit or debit card timescale.
  • Please return any items to the address you are given when you contact us regarding your return. Please include the invoice which arrived with your order or a print out of your Order/Dispatch confirmation email with the returned items. Items returned without this information may be delayed.
  • Any items returned which do not comply with our Refund Policy will be defined as ‘Disputed’ and no refund or exchange can be made. We will provide a reason for this decision and will happily return the item to you within 90 days of our receiving them after which time they will be destroyed.
  • Unfortunately we are unable to refund or exchange on items which have not been returned. If a replacement is required quickly we recommend that you place another order for the replacement item and return the original item at a later date.
  • If the 14 day time period has elapsed before we are contacted regarding a return but it is still within 30 calender days of the item being received, as a gesture of good will we will receive items back and refund goods to the value of 70% of the purchase price. After 30 calendar days have elapsed we are under no obligation to refund.

 

Faulty Items

All our products have a 30 day guarantee where faulty products can be returned to us for an exchange or refund of the original purchase price. This does not affect your Statutory Rights.

If a product is faulty please inform us as soon as possible, within 14 calendar days of discovery of the fault or 30 calendar days after the product is received, whichever is the earlier.

To ensure your enquiry is dealt with quickly, please have your Invoice number available when contacting us. It will not always be neccesary to return faulty items. Please contact us for further information. If a return is neccessary please  include the invoice which arrived with your order or a print out of  your Order/Dispatch confirmation email with the returned items; failure to do so may result in a delay in processing your return.

  • We shall be under no liability in respect of any fault occurring from fair wear and tear, wilfull damage, misuse, alteration, abnormal working conditions or repair of goods without our approval.

Product Images

All images of costumes or other products are used with the permission of the Copyright holder. Every effort is made by Midlands Fancy Dress to ensure descriptions are clear and images that are representative and truly reflect the item to be purchased. However Midlands Fancy Dress cannot be held responsible for [a] any perception you may have in product representation and [b] the manufacturer's obligation of a right to change product specification including colour or design at any time and without notice.

It is also important to note that some colours may vary slightly from what you see on screen to the product ultimately received, depending on your monitor screen resolution and colour/display settings. We are aware that our site looks different on different PC's using different browsers and having different colour and screen resolution settings.

Credit Card Security

Midlands Fancy Dress do not have or retain any customer credit or debit card details or information of a similar nature.

 

Other Points to Note

  • Midlands Fancy Dress reserve the right to cancel, decline or reject any order prior to dispatch, without prior notice & refunding any payments in full.
  • Midlands Fancy Dress will never send an alternative item to what you have ordered without contacting you. However, many items can be procured from a number of suppliers and suppliers often change their packaging. It is therefore possible that products may have different packaging from the images on this site.
  • All goods remain the property of Midlands Fancy Dress until paid for in full.
